What is Classical  Pilates?

Classical Pilates is the original method developed by Joseph Pilates. As a classical pilates instructor , I will teach you the original work developed by Joseph Pilates.

It focuses on the foundational principles of Pilates: Control, Precision and Concentration. Not only is your form important, but the order in which you do your exercises with appropriate transitions – Each exercise builds and leads into the next to ensure your body progressively adjust to the following exercise. . This process prevents injury and keeps your body in alignment as you move through your workout and build endurance.

If your body is not ready for the full expression of the exercise, modification is made to tailor to your specific needs.

Mat work (Pilates without equipment) is the foundation of the original Pilates method.

The same Principles were then brought to the Reformer, Wunda Chair and Cadillac apparatus, all which I utilize at the studio.

Another distinction in Classical Pilates are the equipments. The equipments are the original design developed by Joseph Pilates and engineered by Gratz. 

The clients who are trained under the classical equipments would certainly feel the exercises more challenging, providing extreme results when done with consistency and discipline.

An interesting fact about Pilates is that during his lifetime this method of exercise was called Contrology. It was only after his death that it became known as the Pilates Method.

It is in the honouring of the Pilates Principles that the depth of the work is achieved. These Principles are:

  • Concentration
  • Centring
  • Control
  • Precision
  • Flow

Classical Pilates Online

Pilates Online is a form of exercise done on the mat, which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. The benefits are better posture, balance and flexibility.

Online classes allows me as your instructor to teach you the exercises properly and help you adjust your form. Online Classes offers you the advantage to do Pilates anywhere. 

Classical Pilates in the Studio

Studio sessions allows you to develop a practice using all the apparatus designed to develops strength,  mobility, endurance, body alignment and breath control.

Sessions can be done privately or with a partner – in which it’s called duet sessions.

Private sessions will allow you to gain deeper knowledge of your body, the session is entirely built around your needs and you do the exercises according to your own rythm.

Duet sessions helps you to stay committed to your practice.The session will flow in following the sequence of the classical pilates method, and you’ll still leave feeling the benefits of Pilates in your body.

Classical Pilates at Home

Home private sessions is an option for the client who either have made the investment in their own equipment, often a reformer – or clients who have a busy life and chooses to have the instructor to come to them at the convinience of their own home.

Despite of which method is done – on the eqipment or on the Mat – you will still develop : Strength, mobility, flexibilty, endurance, body aligment and breath control as a result from either practice.
